Name: Alissa Beth
Gender: Female

Interests: I am a nursing student at Indiana Wesleyan University, but that doesn't really matter. The only thing that matters is that I am the daughter of the best Father in the entire world. I deserved nothing and yet he sacrificed everything for me. I want to spend the rest of my life falling in love with him and serving him a little bit more everyday. :-)

Mirage

And the closer I got the more beautiful it became

Shining and smiling for my hope that was lost

And then it was gone

Gone

The tangible beauty of a perfect afternoon in the rain

Quiet cups of coffee and endless fields of white and water

The smell of antiquity within the covers

All the beauty of a thousand springtimes

Fading

Sparkles of fairy dust remain

Nothing changed

Everything is different

Why should I even hope

I'm fine

Chasing Freedom

And they all flew North is search of the summer

Unaware of an audience

Searching for the culmination of their calling

Among the simplicity of the gray sky

Hope for an impossible future

Wishing for such freedom to soar above complacency

Sometimes the simplest things have the most purpose

Steady as a wave against the terrible cliffs

Free as birds

Blue Like Jazz

I rarely recommend books, but this is a very special case. If you have not read Blue Like Jazz, you should. Wow.

"There is something beautiful about a billion stars held steady by a God who knows what he is doing. (They hang there, the stars, like notes on a page of music, free-form verse ,silent mysteries swirling in the blue like jazz)."

Cielo a Noche

And the moon rose over the rolling expanses that was the sky

shooting out rays of it's glory so bright then

that even the stars faded away in it's presence

so soft and subtle against the milky blackness

the hazy background of a sleepless night.

Halfway forgetting the mediocrity

longing to breathe it all in to the empty spaces of my heart

thirst so strong that I was hoarse.

Like a balm unto my wounded, weary soul.

Suddenly I was trapped

spinning within a glittering snowglobe of endless mercy.

My heart does not freeze

it simply thaws

to the wonder of the beauty.

So Much in Nothing

So dim the lights/ for life is more than this/

More than this daily grind/ more than this dreary sky/

Life is more than this

Fading candles sparkle in the sky/ full of promises still yet to fly/

So happy I could sigh/ noise and commotion all pass me by/

Life is more than this

Confusion doesn’t preserve time/ don’t let it walk on by

Grasp it tightly to your heart/ just hold it from the start/

Oh….Life is worth so much more than this

Sweet melodies whisper on the frigid wind/ spinning in the apple grove/

Don’t let the cold branches trick you/ nothing halts their singing

Life is here and worth so much more than this

So spin with full abandon/ giving no heed to the world surrounding/

Nothing can quench the flow of love/ flying in the sunset sky

Life is worth all of this

All alone and full of passion/ for all the people passing/

See their hurts/ just try to dry the tears/

Their world is only this

Resurrect that fire/ the kindling only lets it burn higher

Alive for all the earth to see/ a love so much bigger than yourself/

Show them that life is all of this

So dim the lights/ for life is more than this/

More than this daily grind/ more than this dreary sky/

Life is ALL of this
